Where do these numbers come from?
From the crash calls county dispatch, the Grand Rapids police and fire departments and the Ottawa County Sheriff publish, which 616 Dispatch lists as they come in. A crash counts toward an intersection when its call is listed at that corner; 333 of the 549 crash calls in Allendale & GVSU since November 7, 2025 were. Calls listed at a block, on a freeway between exits or with no location aren't counted, and spellings of the same street are merged.
Why does the data start on November 7, 2025?
That's the oldest crash in the past year we have for Allendale & GVSU. The Ottawa County Sheriff's data covers about a year; Kent County's and Grand Rapids' calls start when 616 Dispatch began listing them, so Kent County rankings grow as the months go by.
